Day excursion from Marrakech to Essaouira

We start our excursion from Marrakech at 07:00 am. After around 3 hours drive, we get to the ancient port of Mogador/Essaouira, built during the Portuguese occupation in a narrow peninsula with a huge sand crescent. Perfectly sheltered by stunning French-built ramparts of the eighteenth century, the city is within a walking visit distance and is divided into various districts designed in grid form. From the top of Skala you can see the colorful fishing port and the fortresses. Essaouira is also famous for its fine handicrafts, especially silver jewelries and wooden items (tuya) perfectly interspersed with lemon wood, ebony, nacre, copper or silver thread. After a guided visit in the city and its monuments we will take you to an amazing restaurant, where you will have the opportunity to degustate the best cuisine Morocco can offer. After lunch you will have some free time for your shopping (your guide can help you with this if you wish).

Around 16:30 you get into the Van and drive back to Marrakech.

A full day exploring The Aït Benhaddou Kasbah; the third Moroccan site recognized by UNESCO, after the Medina of Fes and Marrakech; and The magnificence of this old fortress can hardly be described by words; that’s the reason why we advise you to visit it personally

We do not know for sure when the Kasbah was built; but there are no testimonies of it before 17th century. However, the structure and method of building  the Kasbah is very famous from very early times in this areaLike most kasbahs in Morocco, this one was also built of a mixture of clay bricks and moulded earth. The Kasbah is one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old salt caravan route. medieval traders used to exchange slaves, gold, ivory against salt with other African kingdoms

After lunch in the Kasbah you’ll visit the old Pacha Glaoui Kasbah (Kasbah Taourirt) in Ouarzazate. This kasbah has an amazing story behind; and is intrinsically linked to the formation of modern Morocco

Day Trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Cascades

This full day Trip starts with an early departure from heading to Demnate (the most ancient village in Morocco with its’ Jewish quarter) and its fields of Olive trees. After a short visit of this village we drive towards the natural bridge of Imi Nifri where we stop for a mint tea and enjoy the view. This itinerary is unique by its greenish valleys and amazing sceneries. After reaching Tanannt, a village perched on the top of a hill, you will see an outstanding panorama onto the Jbel Ghat and the Jbel Azoukri, especially when the Atlas rock ridge is covered with snow. After Tanannt, we drive through the Entila region where fortified dwellings with square towers can be seen.

Upon arrival to Ouzoud, we walk around 10 minutes on a footpath to the upper waters of the waterfalls where grain mills operate thanks to the torrent water. We stop for Lunch in a restaurant on the cascades site

The waterfalls, which are often topped by a rainbow thanks to the spray of water falling on the rocks, join up with the Oued el Abid canyon, two kilometres below. A footpath winding among olive trees will lead you to the foot of the waterfall, where you will perhaps catch a glimpse of wild monkeys.

Aït Benhaddou Kasbah

This 2 days desert tour from Marrakech goes through the Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah & Ouarzazate, and its’ beautiful cinema studios; the Kasbah Taourirt, the old Galoui Palace, the Draa Valley with many kasbahs. we drive along palm tree oasis; the village of Agdz, and Zagora. The massive adobe structures we see along the route are divided into houses that serve as habitations for families of these kasbah villages where life has continued unchanged over centuries.
Zagora is also known as “the gate to the desert” and it’s the last town before the palm oases where the road dissolves into nothing but sand and rocks.

The detailed program for this 2 days desert tour from Marrakech:

Day 1:

We leave at 7:00 am toward Ouarzazate, 200 km through the Atlas Mountains;  we enjoy beautiful landscapes and Berber authentic villages. First big stop is to visit Ouarzazate and the famous Aït benhaddou kasbah, and lunch near the Kasbah.
After lunch we drive through Ouarzazate (the capital city of cinema in Africa). then we drive toward Agdz and Zagora. visit of the Draa Valley and its palmeraie.  around 5 p.m we ride camels for an hour and a half in the middle of the dunes

We arrive to the camp half an hour before the sunset and have a mint tea with the nomads in the camp. Then we go over the dunes to watch the sunset.

After this we go for a walk to discover the desert; from the top of the dunes you will have the opportunity to see the most amazing sky you have ever seen in your life.

Back to the camp for dinner, then the nomads play music for you around a campfire

Day 2:

On the second day, we awake you before sunrise to see the first lights of the day (magical lights before the sunrise). then we have breakfast. Later on, we get on the camels back and get to the van; we drive back toward Marrakech. We stop to visit ‘Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah’, a 16th century Kasbah. After the visit we have lunch; then we continue the trip. We get back to Marrakech around 17:30.

Day 1:

Departure from Marrakech at 7:00 am, we drive across the Atlas Mountains (200 km through the High Atlas Mountain).
We have a short stop for breakfast around 9:00 am in a Berber Village (Tadart).
First big stop is to visit ‘Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah’ a 16th century fortress classified by UNESCO as a human heritage. Many big movies were turned there (Gladiator, Laurence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven…)
We stop for lunch even at the Aït Benhaddou Kasbah or in Ouarzazate (the capital city of cinema in Africa). After lunch we drive through the Roses valley and the Road of the Kasbahs. We arrive to Dades Gorges around 5:00 pm. We spend the night in the Gorges

Day 2:

After breakfast we drive toward Todgha valley, we visit the Valley and its gorges. We drive to Erfoud; there we stop for lunch, after lunch we drive to Merzouga, the gate to the dunes. We go to Le Palais des Dunes hotel, we stop there for around an hour if you are attempted by a short swim in the swimming pool. Around 4 o’clock we ride camels two hours into the dunes.
We arrive to the camp around 6 o’clock, we have a mint tea with the nomads in the camp, and then we get over the dunes to watch the sun set. After the sun set you will have the opportunity to see the most amazing sky you have ever seen in your life. Back to the camp for dinner, after dinner the nomads play music for us around a fire. We sleep under nomads tents

Day 3:

We wake you up half an hour before sunrise to see magical lights and the sunrise. We ride camels back to Merzouga. Once back to the hotel in Merzouga, we have a shower and breakfast. After breakfast we get into the vans and drive back to Marrakech.

Marrakech Christmas & New Year Desert Tour

Day 1:

Departure from Marrakech, and drive through the High Atlas mountains -Tizi nTichka pass. We’ll take time to stop and enjoy the impressive landscapes, have coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice break before visiting the Atlas film studios where many big box office adventure films were turned ( The Mummy, Black Hawk Down, Cleopatra, Gladiator, Moses, and more) before stopping in Ouarzazate for lunch and to visit the famous Kasbah Taourirt. The first night will be spent there.

Day 2:

Next destination is a drive through the Valley of the Roses, and Dades Gorges. We pass through many Berber villages and experience a culture unchanged for thousands of years in riverside oasis gardens and barren hillsides clustered with kasbahs. We visit Dades Gorges and spend the night in a beautiful hotel, enjoying the local music with the evening meal.

Day 3:

After breakfast we have a short drive to reach a massive fault dividing the High Atlas Mountain. Todra Gorge sheer rock walls rise over 300m in their narrowest part, where you can wander with a guide through palmerie villages, gardens, and kasbahs for a close look at traditional Berber ways of life. After lunch we drive to Merzouga- the gate to the Sahara dunes; relaxing afternoon on the swimming pool; in the evening, the Christmas or New years’ eve dinner and show in the hotel

Day 4:

After breakfast we take you to visit an old slave village and a lake animated by the pink flamingos. Upon return from this visit you have lunch after which your local guide will lead your camel caravan into the dunes to the bivouac (camp), where a traditional tagine dinner (vegetarians welcome) is prepared under the evening stars. Climb the dunes and watch the moon rise before retiring to your bed in a nomad wool tent.

Day 5:

We will return by camels at sunrise to your your hotel for breakfast and shower. Afterwards we will depart for the World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. This village of clustered Berber Kasbahs has been used as a backdrop for more than 20 films and was one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt from Saharan Africa to Marrakech and beyond. The last night will be spent there.

Day 6:

Back to Marrakech around midday.

Ourika Valley shared group excursion from Marrakech

This shared group excursion from marrakech to Ourika valley is the most accessible day trip from Marrakech.

At only 45 minutes’ drive from the city; It is famous for the 7 waterfalls at Setti Fatma village and the ski station of Oukaimeden.

It’s a lush valley with green terraced fields beside the river that contrast strongly with the rocky valley sides of the foothills of the mountains.

Situated at around 1,200-1,500 metres it offers a pretty escape from the summer heat of Marrakech and it’s the most suitable area for gentle hiking and trekking.

Tnine Ourika, named after the local souk (market) in the valley held every Monday.

Deep in the valley you will enjoy the different landscapes and great spots for taking photos

The lush valley and local village houses, built from bricks made from the local rich red soil, add the beauty to the area

Detailed program:

We leave Marrakech around 09:00 a.m. we drive toward the Atlas Mountains

Along the way you will be enjoying the beautiful Berber authentic 16th & 17th century villages

Our First stop is a visit to traditional Moroccan house, to discover how people live and how (great) they cook

From the roof of the house you have a beautiful view on a 17th century village and on the valley

The lady (owner of the house) will make a tea ceremony to show you how to make mint tea.

After this they will serve you a light country breakfast (bread, butter, honey, olive oil and tea).

Then we continue deeper in the valley, we stop for a 20 minutes camel ride (optional)

After the camel ride we drive until the end of the road, we leave our vehicle and go trekking for around two hours to see some waterfalls

Then we come back to the van and drive half a way when we stop for lunch in a nice restaurant having beautiful view on the valley (lunch is not included)

After lunch we drive back to Marrakech
